There Is Life After Drugs is Ray's unflinching account of what came next: a single father fighting to keep his daughter out of the system while fighting his own addiction, a broken man who found what he calls "love and deliverance" in Christ, and an ex-junkie who went on to run federal contracts for agencies like the FBI and the DEA — even working the office suite of a young Senator Barack Obama.

Told with raw honesty and hard-won hope, this is more than a memoir. It's a message for anyone still caught in addiction, and for every family member who's watched someone they love disappear into it: recovery is possible, and it starts with deciding how bad you want it.

Today, Ray Houston — known to many as "The Escapee from Hell" — is Pastor and Director of True Believers Outlook Ministry, a mentor, life coach, and motivational speaker who has turned his devastation into his motivation.

Meet Pastor Ray Houston

Known for his “Real Talk,” Pastor Ray Houston is “The Advocate” — compassionate and fervent about a message of healing and deliverance. After 27 years of hardcore addiction, homelessness, and the loss of a million-dollar business, he found freedom in Christ and now serves as Pastor and Director of True Believers Outlook Ministry.

He is a Pastor, CEO, Author, Life Coach, and Motivational Speaker, and serves as a volunteer minister at McLean County Jail and Lincoln Correctional Center. He is married to Pastor Colleen Bennett Houston, director of G.R.O.U.P. (God Reaching Out Using People), and together they co-pastor the ministry's outreach homes.
